Now for the fun part. The reception is the guests’ reward for sitting patiently through the ceremony. By this stage, they’re dying for a drink. And, no doubt, so are you. But don’t let your hair down too far before you’ve completed your most important duty of the day: the speech (and if you haven’t written it yet, best to check out Chapter 6, ASAP).

The Reception

Everyone likes to mix things up a little and change the order of the different elements of the reception. For example, many weddings now feature the speeches before, rather than after, the meal. Figure 5-1 shows how the wedding reception normally progresses.
